Being Florida’s first preserve park and notoriously known for its stargazing exhibits, this beautiful place is only 10 miles south of Gainesville. Plant and animal life is very abundant here as visitors typically encounter animals such as horses, alligators, and bison while exploring the area. This park also features 8 miles of trails which is good for a leisurely walk or a nice bike ride.
Located in Downtown Gainesville just minutes from the UF campus, this cultural magnet was founded in 1973 and hosts many shows involving American and Southern works. This theater uses professional actors showcasing Broadway and off-Broadway productions and films. Shows are abundant on weekends and there’s always something interesting to be seen. The gardens here focus on plants such as roses, cycads, herbs and camellias. Due to the endless amount of plants here, you are sure to see many butterflies and hummingbirds roaming the area.
