I’m sure everyone has heard that your college years are some of the best moments of your life. All throughout high school, we keep waiting for the moment we enter college, move away from home and begin our journey to a successful career. Although studies should be your number one priority, there is plenty of time to have fun, do new things and experience life-changing events. Whether it’s joining a new club that you would have never thought of becoming part of, eating new foods or venturing deep into the outdoors, there is a myriad of things to experience during college.
Here are some that you can’t pass on during your college journey:
While it may seem frightening at first, you will only get once chance to be able to study in another country during college. Many students choose to head to another country for a semester and it can be a memorable experience. Cool countries to venture to include Spain, France, China, Costa Rica and England; there are many more, but these are some popular destinations. If you’re worried about the cost, most colleges offer financial aid and assist in finding housing. You might even come back speaking a second language!
If any student says there isn’t a student organization that is right for them, they are wrong. There are tons of clubs on campus ranging from medically related to ethnic student associations. It can be a great way to make new friends and grow your connections.
What would a college experience would be without heading with your best friends to the nightclub partying the night away only to realize you have an early morning class the next day. Well, it might not be a good idea to go out the night before an exam or early class, but the weekend is a good time to live it up and dance like an animal. Be sure to bring some cash and some energy.
Leaving campus for a weekend or a couple days with some friends can be a great way to have fun. It doesn’t matter if it’s not planned, but jump in someone’s car, load up your bags and zoom off to an unknown destination.
While it might not seem so amusing, taking the bus, especially late at night can be very interesting and eye popping experience. You might see people sleeping on top of others, zoning out on their cell phones, or even see dancers on the side of the road trying to break some change.
Taking a class that doesn’t count for your major, is a good way to take a break from your usual core classes and learn something new. You might even take home some new life skills which can benefit you for the future.
