I haven’t been with the uCribs team for very long, but I feel the need to give a shout out to the university I attend. Which means I’m putting on my cowboy boots and hitting up all the Texan slang I can in this post.
You see, y’all are here because you attend college. I’m sure you love your school. But no one can love their school the same way Aggies love Texas A&M. Yes that’s right. For all you football fans out there, I go to the same school as Johnny Manziel.
But this post is not about him. This post is about how awesome my school is and how its awesomeness is something I love to talk about. In fact, I love A&M so much that all the t-shirts in my closet are maroon, and I find an excuse to buy something maroon ALL the time. ALL.THE.FREAKING.TIME.
There’s a saying in Aggieland (that’s what we call College Station, Texas, y’all). From the outside, you can’t understand it. From the inside, you can’t explain it. It’s true. Kinda. I’m going to try to explain it.
Texas A&M is full of traditions, and traditions is what makes this school unique. Everything is a tradition. After our kicker missed two field goals, we all took to crossing our fingers whenever he tried. It worked, so it became a tradition. We all stopped doing it, and he missed again! I’m tellin’ ya, it works.
Anyone who has been to Aggieland will tell you that everyone is friendly. And not your typical Southern friendly, either. We’re so friendly you don’t ever want to go home. We’re so friendly to rival teams, that fans of rival teams end up being Aggie fans. That’s how friendly we are. We’re so friendly you want to call my mom your mom.
The next thing that makes me so dang proud to be an Aggie is how service minded we all are. Never mind we’re short on bills this month, never mind we’ve all got our own lives to lead. Aggies will always have time to serve their community. Students organized the “Red, White and Blue” where everyone got together at a home football game (pre-SEC) and demonstrated a show of patriotism that I’ve never seen at any other school. The student body turned up in coordinating colors of Red, White, and Blue:

If you’re not impressed, how about this. Aggies managed to raise $100,000 in 24 hours for a fellow Aggie whose 18-month-old son contracted a rare form of cancer and they needed the money for expenses. $100,000. That’s about as much as some of y’alls tuition. In 24 hours. Only through Twitter.
I could go on and on and on about my favorite school in the world, but you won’t understand it until you give Aggieland a visit. So here’s my open invitation. Come hit us up anytime, you won’t be disappointed. Until then, here’s a video of Johnny Football.
