Whether you’re hanging out with a group of friends, getting a caffeine buzz or need a place to study for the big exam the next day, there are many great coffee shops near the University of Florida that will suit your needs. Check out these 5 cozy and popular coffee places near campus:
1. Volta Coffee, Tea & Chocolate
Located couple blocks from the heart of famous, this is one of the coffee shops in the town that takes its brew very seriously. This hipster and cozy shop has their coffee is roasted by Intelligentsia, a roaster who buys the coffee directly from local farmers. Not only do they serve great coffee, they also offer lattes, baked goods and their famous, drinking chocolates which can be nice on a cold day. They also have a nice lounge to study and nice view from the inside.
2. Bay Island Coffee Company
Don’t let the size of this place fool you, this popular coffee shop boasts very cheap prices and has a small sit down area outside. While not the most ideal place to study for a test, it is very good if you are in rush as they have a reliable drive-thru service. Although they are known for their iced coffee drinks, they also offer fresh fruit smoothies, gourmet teas, lemonade and much more.
3. Maude’s Coffee House
Located in the heart of Downtown Gainesville adjacent to the Hippodrome Theater, this coffee bar even has board games on tap for you to enjoy while hanging out with friends and ideal to spend the evening enjoying the nightlife. Select from the freshest and highest quality coffees, indulge on their classic food items such as Hot Alice Wrap or Veggie Bomb, which is made with their homemade garlic-lemon hummus on a toasted bagel with fresh veggies, or even sample their finest desserts.
4. Cymplify Coffee Company
A relaxing place to hang out during the week when it’s packed with students with laptops or during the weekends when they host numerous events with live music and local food trucks. Cymplify serves some of the finest coffee in town along with tea and scrumptious pastries.
5. Coffee Culture
What more can you ask- better quality than Starbucks, in my opinion and way cheaper! They have a huge variety of drinks such as a macchiato, various iced coffees and many hot drinks to choose from. Their monthly specials bring some favorites such as the Chewbacca, which is a caramel and banana mocha during the month of June.
