The Holidays are upon us which brings lots of new sights to the Bryan/ College Station area. Whether you’re looking for a study break, an after finals outing, or planning to avoid home a little longer, here are some great local holiday attractions that are sure to put you in the spirit.
While many know of the great First Friday events, the holiday season is a great time to enjoy the food, gift shops, and culture of downtown Bryan. Meet up with your friends at one of scrumptious restaurants or even a visit to the posh wine bars for one last hoorah before the winter break. Take advantage of the great Christmas light photo ops or even swing by on December 12th for the annual Christmas parade. You’ll even get the opportunity to let Santa know that all you want for Christmas is to pass your finals!
Do you need a festive fresh air study break? Or maybe even a festive marathon to de-stress after finals… too much? Well whatever the case is, be sure to stop by Wolf Pen Creek Park before the holidays are over. Take your dog for a walk or play disc golf amongst all the lights and decorations. Maybe even take your family there after graduation for some great family photos. Or, like I mentioned, the BCS marathon takes place December 14th, run along or spread your holiday cheer and show some support.
Texas A&M is lucky to have former president George Bush Sr.’s presidential library right on campus. This year the museum is hosting a Christmas at the White House event, where visitors can come and see the recreated White House just as Laura Bush had it decorated in 2002. The theme she chose was “All Creatures Big and Small” in order to celebrate the joy and cheer that pets have brought to the White House throughout the years. This is an exhibit unlike any other only to be found in Aggieland!
I’ve saved the best for last! The LARGEST Christmas attraction in all of Texas. Over 2 million lights on 37 acres of land designated as Santa’s Town. Santa’s Wonderland won’t disappoint even the oldest of souls. Live music and performances every night, shops galore, and of course food! What’s better than a cup of hot chocolate in your hand, a carriage ride through millions of lights, a good ol’ Texas Country band performance, and a s’more bar waiting for you when you need a sweet snack. Santa’s Wonderland has been in business since 1998 and gets bigger and better every year. It is a must see!
